Navigate LGBTQ+ fertility options with help from our Newport Beach fertility clinicJust as no two fingerprints are alike, no two families are identical. They come in all shapes and sizes. At the Southern California Center for Reproductive Medicine, we are committed to supporting our patients and their partners in achieving their parenthood goals. This includes helping patients who are looking for same-sex family building and LGBTQ+ fertility options.

Explore same-sex family building with our skilled fertility experts

Although creating a family may present some challenges for same sex patients, we offer a range of LGBTQ+ fertility options. Our doctors and team will walk with you each step of the way.

Options for gay couples. For gay men, creating a family will involve the use of donor eggs and a gestational surrogate who will carry the pregnancy to term. When considering an egg donor, you and your partner should discuss whether you want a known or anonymous egg donor. Regardless of your decision, the egg donor and gestational surrogate will undergo extensive testing to ensure the best chance of success.

Options for lesbian couples. As a lesbian couple, you have various choices to consider. First, you will need a sperm donor, which again can be a known individual or an anonymous donor. After you make this decision, you and your partner will want to decide whether you want to conceive using donor sperm IUI, donor sperm IVF or reciprocal IVF. With reciprocal IVF, the eggs of one partner are combined with the donor sperm and transferred to the uterus of the other partner.

Options for transgender individuals and couples. Our transgender patients will need to evaluate their family building timeline in conjunction with any transitioning plans. If you want to conceive, you may need to temporarily suspend hormone therapy. Transwomen may need fertility medications to increase sperm production for IUI or IVF. Transmen can explore the use of fertility medications to stimulate ovulation combined with timed intercourse or treatments like IUI or IVF.
