Taking the next steps

Before beginning any treatment, you will meet with one of our Newport Beach fertility doctors for an initial appointment. During this visit, your physician will review your complete medical history and answer any pressing questions. As a follow-up, the doctor will request blood work to check hormone levels, perform a physical examination, and order a sonogram to visualize your reproductive organs. The results from these tests will provide a comprehensive picture of your reproductive health.

Fertility care for single women

Generally, our Newport Beach fertility doctors suggest IUI or IVF using donor sperm for single women. Patients will need to decide to use a known donor or go through a donor agency to acquire the necessary sperm sample. In either case, the sperm will need to be tested and quarantined for a period of time. Once you begin treatment, the process is fairly straightforward.

  • With IUI, patients can choose a natural or medicated IUI cycle. Once we confirm ovulation, your doctor will use a catheter to insert the washed and prepared sperm into the uterus.
  • For IVF, you will take fertility medication to stimulate your ovaries to produce multiple eggs, and your physician will schedule an egg retrieval as an outpatient procedure. The donor sperm and your eggs are combined together in the laboratory. A trained embryologist will evaluate the quality of the resulting embryos, and your doctor will transfer the best-quality embryo to the uterus.

As a single woman, don’t put your family-building dreams on hold. We offer state-of-the-art fertility care for single women and will walk with you through the entire process. Call our office to schedule an appointment with one of our Newport Beach fertility doctors.
